Vale Hilary Crampton

It is with great sorrow that I mark the passing of my dear friend, mentor and colleague Hilary Crampton.

She will be sorely missed, by me and many others, not only for her invaluable contribution to dance in Australia, but also for her guidance, encouragement and companionship.

Her many achievements and absolute dedication to dance are a constant inspiration.

Julie Dyson has written a wonderful professional tribute to Hilary on the Ausdance website, the final sentence of which says it all for me:
"While Hilary was best known as a writer, educator and advocate, she primarily saw herself as an artist and an arts practitioner who could write, a sentiment well reflected in her insightful writing."

Thankyou Hilary, I miss you already.

  1. Hilary was a mentor and inspiration to so many people - not only in the dance world, but also the broader arts sector through her involvement with the Melbourne Uni arts management postgrad course. She was a generous, intelligent person who gave everything to those around her and to the arts in Australia.
